Crossword Genius

Toy sunk into prune creating blob (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dollop

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'blob' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'toy sunk into prune' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'toy' could be 'doll' (doll is a kind of toy) and 'doll' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'op' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'creating' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for dollop that I've seen before include "Large shapeless lump" , "Inelegant helping (of)" , "Shapeless mass or lump" , "serving food, perhaps" , "A shapeless lump of something soft, like dough" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
