Ross

I believe the answer is:

taproot

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'underground section' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

'trap too devious' is the wordplay.
'devious' is an anagram indicator.
'trap'+'too'='traptoo'
'traptoo' with letters rearranged gives 'TAPROOT'.

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for taproot that I've seen before include "Main underground part of plant" , "infrastructure" , "Plant's main source of nourishment" , "Main part of plant in earth" , "Part of plant growing down vertically" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
