Trickster to fool member of judge’s panel (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

conjuror

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'trickster' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'fool member of judge's panel' is the wordplay.
'fool' becomes 'con' (I've seen this in another clue).
'member of judge's panel' becomes 'juror' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'con'+'juror'='CONJUROR'

'to' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for conjuror that I've seen before include "Magical entertainer" , "One performing tricks" , "Man of magic tricks" , "Performer of magic tricks" , "Prestidigitator" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
