Tricky moves nan and son played in Scrabble? (5-5,5)

I believe the answer is:
three-point turns
'nan and son played in scrabble?' is the definition.
I don't know anything about this answer so I can't judge whether it can be defined by this definition.
'tricky moves' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'moves' could be 'turns' (turn is a kind of move) and 'turns' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'threepoint' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
