Tricky to manage, like a violin? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

fiddly

'tricky to manage' is the definition.

'like a violin?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'like' could be 'ly' ('ly' can be similar in meaning to 'like') and 'ly' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for fiddly that I've seen before include "Time-consuming" , "5 down" , "Requiring awkwardly precise handling" , "Awkwardly complicated" , "Small and awkward to handle" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
