Crossword Genius

Trite as farcical entertainer (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

artiste

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'entertainer' is the definition.
(I know that artiste is a type of music interpreter)

'trite as farcical' is the wordplay.
'trite as' can be anagrammed to 'ARTISTE'.
However, I am not sure how the anagram is indicated.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for artiste that I've seen before include "Player" , "A sitter for a performer" , "professional dancer?" , "'Public performer, dancer or singer (7)'" , "Professional performer" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
