Turned up in France (9)
I believe the answer is:
retrousse
'turned up' is the definition.
(retrousse describes an attractively turned up nose)
'in france' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'in france' could be 'et' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'et' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for retrousse that I've seen before include "Of nose, turned up at tip" , "(Of noses) upturned" , "turned up in Nice" .)
