Crossword Genius

Two types of record, one after the other (6,4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

single file

'one after the other' is the definition.

'two types of record' is the wordplay.
'two types of' becomes 'single' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'record' becomes 'file' (filing is a kind of recording).
'single'+'file'='SINGLE-FILE'

(Other definitions for single file that I've seen before include "unique dossier" , "Where to keep unmarried person's records" , "in a queue?" , "Progress so narrowly" , "Line - one behind another" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
