Unevenly coloured 25 dish: no cover on top? (7)
I believe the answer is:
piebald
'unevenly coloured' is the definition.
'piebald' can be an answer for 'coloured' ('piebald' can be similar in meaning to 'coloured'). I'm not certain of the 'unevenly' bit.
'25 dish no cover on top?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'dish' could be 'pie' (I've seen this before) and 'pie' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'bald' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for piebald that I've seen before include "(Of horse) black and white in patches" , "(Of an animal) marked in two different colours" , "Two-coloured (horse)" , "Of horse, with patches of white and dark colour" , "(Of horse) patched with two colours" .)
