Unfamiliar person, more curious (8)
I believe the answer is:
stranger
'unfamiliar person' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'more curious' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'curious' could be 'strange' (synonyms) and 'strange' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'r' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for stranger that I've seen before include "visitor" , "unfamiliar figure" , "More unfamiliar or odd" , "someone making nuisance call?" , "Person one is not acquainted with" .)
