United yet divided (7)
I believe the answer is:
cleaved
This might be a double definition.
'united' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I cannot see how one could define the other.
'divided' is the second definition.
(cleaving is a kind of dividing)
'yet' is the link.
