Unkempt having suffered blow? (9)
I believe the answer is:
windswept
'unkempt' is the definition.
Both the answer and definition are adjectives. Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?
'suffered blow?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'blow?' could be 'wind' (blow is a kind of wind) and 'wind' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'swept' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'having' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for windswept that I've seen before include "having dishevelled look" , "Affected by moving air" , "Bedraggled" , "Exposed to gales" , "affected by gale" .)
