Unlike a fancy woman? (5)

I believe the answer is:
plain
'unlike' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are adjectives. Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?
'a fancy woman?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'a' is present in the answer.
'woman?' could be 'lin' and 'lin' is found in the leftover letters.
A single letter 'p' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for plain that I've seen before include "Unembellished" , "Unprepossessing" , "Undecorated; clear" , "Clear, candid" , "Straightforward" .)
