Unpunished factor upset with no answer in court (4-4)
I believe the answer is:
scot-free
'unpunished' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'factor upset with no answer in court' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'no' could be 'o' (resembles 0 - 'no' can mean 'zero') and 'o' is located in the answer.
'court' could be 'ct' (abbreviation used in road names) and 'ct' is found in the leftover letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scot-free that I've seen before include "Unpunished, at liberty like Jock or Angus" , "Without loss or penalty" , "Unharmed, not punished - like Angus at liberty?" , "Entirely without penalty or injury" , "'Without any punishment whatsoever (4,4)'" .)
