Unwell when engaged by Scottish bank, touch-type? (7)

I believe the answer is:
braille
'touch-type?' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'unwell when engaged by scottish bank' is the wordplay.
'unwell' becomes 'i'll' (similar in meaning).
'when engaged by scottish' becomes 'brae' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'bank' indicates putting letters inside (outside letters create limits or banks).
'ill' inserted into 'brae' is 'BRAILLE'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for braille that I've seen before include "Touching letters" , "Bumps felt" , "Liberal (anag) - reading system" , "Raised text for the blind" , "Written language for the visually impaired" .)
