Various drives near the end of the lane (7)
I believe the answer is:
diverse
'various' is the definition.
(I know that various can be written as diverse)
'drives near the end of the lane' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
an anagram of 'drives' is 'divers' which is present in the answer.
A single letter 'e' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for diverse that I've seen before include "Of different kind or variety" , "I served in many ways" , "Several" , "Many and varied" , "Multifarious" .)
