Walker's place of employment? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

shop

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'walker's place' is the definition.
'shop' can be an answer for 'place' (I have seen 'place of work' mean 'shop' so perhaps 'place' could also mean 'shop'). I'm unsure of the 'walker's' bit.

I can't explain the rest of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for shop that I've seen before include "Store - betray" , "Where goods are bought and sold" , "business situation is to succeed!" , "Inform on; store" , "Establishment for the sale of goods" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
