Was she a deadly dancer? (6)
I believe the answer is:
salome
'dancer?' is the definition.
(I know that Salome is a dancer)
'was she a deadly' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'she' could be 'sal' and 'sal' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ome' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for salome that I've seen before include "Asked for the head of John the Baptist" , "She danced with seven veils for the Baptist's head" , "Her dancing pleased Herod" , "She demanded head of John the Baptist" , "Biblical dancer" .)
