Watching the way things go? (7)
I believe the answer is:
tending
'watching' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both acts as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'way things go?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'way' could be 'n' (Compass direction - North) and 'n' is found in the answer.
'go?' could be 'din' (dinning is a kind of going) and 'din' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'teg' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'the' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tending that I've seen before include "Taking care of or leaning towards" , "Naturally disposed toward" , "Waiting on" .)
