Crossword Genius

Way bad lover is out to trap you texting? (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

boulevard

'way' is the definition.
(I know that Boulevard is a type of route)

'bad lover is out to trap you texting?' is the wordplay.
'is out' indicates anagramming the letters (I've seen 'was out' mean this).
'to trap' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'you texting?' becomes 'u' (abbreviation for 'you' when texting).
'bad'+'lover'='badlover'
'badlover' with letters rearranged gives 'bolevard'.
'bolevard' going around 'u' is 'BOULEVARD'.

(Other definitions for boulevard that I've seen before include "Broad tree-lined street" , "Broad avenue" , "Wide city road" , "See 1" , "Wide French thoroughfare" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
