Ways to get identical information for a culinary ingredient (6,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sesame oil

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a culinary ingredient' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both things that one consumes for nourishment as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'ways to get identical information' is the wordplay.
'ways' becomes 'es' (east and south - two directions).
'to get' indicates putting letters inside.
'identical' becomes 'same' (similar in meaning).
'information' becomes 'oil' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'es' going into 'same' is 'sesame'.
'sesame'+'oil'='SESAME OIL'

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for sesame oil that I've seen is " Substance obtained from seeds".)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
