Weapon that is, for the record, two-pointed (4)
I believe the answer is:
epee
'weapon' is the definition.
(I know that epee is a type of sword)
'for the record two-pointed' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'record' could be 'ep' (abbreviation for extended play record) and 'ep' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ee' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'that is' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for epee that I've seen before include "Fencing sword similar to a foil" , "there's a point to it" , "Narrow fencing sword" , "Foil for riposte" , "Fencing sword, heavier than a foil" .)
