Went hungry? Needing inner energy, did the opposite (7)
I believe the answer is:
feasted
'did the opposite' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I cannot understand how they can define each other.
'went hungry? needing inner energy' is the wordplay.
'went hungry?' becomes 'fasted' (I've seen this in another clue).
'needing inner' is an insertion indicator.
'energy' becomes 'e' (physics symbol as in E=mc2).
'fasted' going around 'e' is 'FEASTED'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for feasted that I've seen before include "Ate lavishly" , "Banqueted" , "Had a lot to eat" , "Ate high off the hog" .)
