Went round the world, as stated on Tuesday (7)
I believe the answer is:
twirled
'stated on tuesday' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I don't understand how they can define each other.
'went round the world' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'went' could be 'led' (leading is a kind of going) and 'led' is found within the answer.
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'as' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for twirled that I've seen before include "Spun around" , "Spun round lightly" , "Twisted around" .)
