Crossword Genius

Western Isles and Rum, Boris due there? (5,8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

outer hebrides

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'western isles' is the definition.
'outer hebrides' can be an answer for 'isles' (I've seen this before). I'm not sure about the 'western' bit.

'rum boris due there?' is the wordplay.
'rum' is an anagram indicator (rum can mean strange or unusual).
'boris'+'due'+'there'='borisduethere'
'borisduethere' with letters rearranged gives 'OUTER HEBRIDES'.

'and' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for outer hebrides that I've seen before include "Island group containing Lewis and Harris" , "Scots isles" , "Lewis and Harris location" , "The Western Isles" , "remote Scottish area" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
