sodden

'wet' is the definition.
(similar in meaning)

'turf on top of animal's hideout' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'turf' could be 'sod' (both can mean a piece of grass) and 'sod' is present in the answer.
'hideout' could be 'den' (synonyms) and 'den' is found within the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sodden that I've seen before include "Soaked to the skin" , "Soaking wet" , "Drenched, really soaked" , "Drenched through, really wet" , "Muddy" .)
