What compels one, flying kite (7,5)
I believe the answer is:
sopwith camel
'what compels' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I cannot tell whether it can be defined by this definition.
'one flying kite' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'one' could be 'me' (a setter might use 'one' to humourously mean 'me') and 'me' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for sopwith camel that I've seen is " old fighter".)
