Where bulb may go, covering part of corn plant (3,6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sea rocket

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'plant' is the definition.
(sea-rocket is a kind of plant)

'where bulb may go covering part of corn' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'part' could be 'sea' (I have seen 'Part of ocean ' mean 'sea' so perhaps 'part' could also mean 'sea') and 'sea' is present in the answer.
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

I've seen this clue in The Times.
