Crossword Genius

Where one might speak with ill-will under pressure (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

podium

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'where one might speak' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'ill-will under pressure' is the wordplay.
'ill will' becomes 'odium' (I've seen this in another clue).
'under' says to put letters next to each other (below, in a down clue).
'pressure' becomes 'p' (abbreviation).
'odium' put after 'p' is 'PODIUM'.

'with' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for podium that I've seen before include "'Rostrum, dais (6)'" , "Stage" , "Platform or pedestal" , "Speaker's platform" , "Soapbox" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
