Where to find a Range Rover or a Ford? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sierra

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a ford?' is the definition.
(Ford Sierra is a car)

'where to find a range rover' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'a' is within the answer.
'rover' could be 'i' (where the crossword setter is 'Rover') and 'i' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'serr' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'or' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sierra that I've seen before include "mountain area" , "- Nevada, Spanish mountain range" , "Long range" , "Nato alphabet 'S'" , "------ Nevada, mountains of Spain and California" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
