Where unchallenged professor might relax? (4,5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

easy chair

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'where unchallenged' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how they can define each other.

'professor might relax?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'professor' could be 'chair' (chair can mean a professorship) and 'chair' is located in the answer.
'relax?' could be 'easy' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'easy' is found in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for easy chair that I've seen before include "Comfortable place to relax" , "source of comfort" , "comfortable position" , "ambitious professor avoids" , "Comfortable upholstered seat" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
