Where you'd presumably find hellish types with old cricketer under a shadow (2,8)
I believe the answer is:
in disgrace
'under a shadow' is the definition.
'where you'd presumably find hellish types with old cricketer' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'cricketer' could be 'grace' (I have seen 'old cricketer' mean 'grace' so perhaps 'cricketer' could also mean 'grace') and 'grace' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
