Whip out one's trading reserve? (5,2,4)
I believe the answer is:
stock in hand
'trading reserve?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'whip out one's' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'one' could be 'an' (an apple is one apple) and 'an' is found within the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for stock in hand that I've seen is " trading reserve?".)
I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
