Wild about editor's form of government? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

federal

'form of government?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'wild about editor's' is the wordplay.
'wild' becomes 'feral' ('feral' can be similar in meaning to 'wild').
'about' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'editor' becomes 'ed'.
'feral' going around 'ed' is 'FEDERAL'.

(Other definitions for federal that I've seen before include "Relating to a treaty" , "Like the government of linked states" , "In alliance" , "in league" , "National, in the US" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
