Crossword Genius

Will one want people getting on with the job? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ageist

'job?' is the definition.
Both the answer and definition are singular nouns.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I don't see?

'will one want people getting on with the' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found within the answer.
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ages' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for ageist that I've seen before include "being for youngsters only?" , "knocking down the old" , "discriminator of old" , "Discriminating against the old" , "One who discriminates against on grounds of age" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
