Winner at the wedding? (4,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

best man

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This clue could be a double definition.

'winner' is the first definition.
The answer and definition can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'the wedding?' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

'at' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for best man that I've seen before include "May he win!" , "Bloke participating in match" , "Supporting male actor at a wedding" , "The groom's right-hand supporter" , "Bridegroom's mate" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
