Crossword Genius

With money always, turn up and have fun (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

revel

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'have fun' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both acts as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'with money always turn up' is the wordplay.
'with' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'money' becomes 'l' (L can mean 'pounds').
'always' becomes 'ever' ('ever' can be a synonym of 'always').
'turn up' says the letters should be written backwards.
'l' next to 'ever' is 'lever'.
'lever' written backwards gives 'REVEL'.

'and' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for revel that I've seen before include "Feast riotously" , "Make merry; luxuriate (in)" , "Celebrate with a lever, strangely" , "Spree" , "Paint the town red" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
