Without preparation, select part for the make-up remover (4-5)
I believe the answer is:
cold-cream
'the make-up remover' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'without preparation select part' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'part' could be 'cream' (I have seen 'Best part ' mean 'cream' so perhaps 'part' could also mean 'cream') and 'cream' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'cold' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
