Wooden strip containing medal found in London borough (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

lambeth

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'london borough' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'wooden strip containing medal' is the wordplay.
'wooden strip' becomes 'lath' (lath is a kind of strip. I am not sure about the 'wooden' bit.).
'containing' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'medal' becomes 'mbe'.
'lath' placed around 'mbe' is 'LAMBETH'.

'found in' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for lambeth that I've seen before include "City council" , "London borough with palace and walk" , "District of south London" , "Archbishop of Canterbury" , "Location of Archbishop of Canterbury's palace" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
