Words of wisdom with bite (4)
I believe the answer is:
saws
'words of wisdom' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'with bite' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'with' could be 'w' (short for with) and 'w' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'sas' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for saws that I've seen before include "bladed items" , "Adages" , "Proverbs" .)
