Worked hard on the socialist edition (8)
I believe the answer is:
laboured
'worked hard' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'the socialist edition' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'socialist' could be 'lab' (I've seen this before) and 'lab' is present in the answer.
'edition' could be 'ed' and 'ed' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'our' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'on' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for laboured that I've seen before include "not done without difficulty" , "Worked hard or with difficulty" , "Worked; not fluent" , "far from fluent" , "Toiled" .)
