World wide, maybe, but it's a trap (3)
I believe the answer is:
web
'trap' is the definition.
(I know that web is a type of trap)
'world wide maybe but it's a' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'wide' could be 'w' (abbreviation e.g. in cricket) and 'w' is found in the answer.
'it' could be 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'e' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'b' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for web that I've seen before include "Spider's home" , "Internet site for spider?" , "Network; mesh" , "Network, may be World Wide" , "Tangle" .)
