Would tenth month work for a sea creature? (7)
I believe the answer is:
octopus
'sea creature?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'would tenth month work for a' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'month' could be 'pus' (Pus is an example) and 'pus' is found within the answer.
'for' could be 'to' (eg both can mean 'in the opinion of') and 'to' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for octopus that I've seen before include "Long-tentacled creature" , "Eight-legged creature" , "fairground ride" , "Large marine mollusc" , "One well-armed" .)
