Crossword Genius

Wreck in a moorage area (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

marina

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'moorage area' is the definition.
'marina' can be an answer for 'area' (I have seen 'seaside area' mean 'marina' so perhaps 'area' could also mean 'marina'). I'm not sure about the 'moorage' bit.

'wreck in a' is the wordplay.
'wreck' becomes 'mar' (I've seen this in another clue).
'mar'+'in'+'a'='MARINA'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for marina that I've seen before include "Docking place for pleasure craft" , "Pleasure-boat dock" , "where yachts moor" , "Place for mooring boats" , "place to moor up?" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
