'town' becomes 'lewes' (I've seen this before).
'recalled' shows that the letters should be reversed in order (to recall can mean to bring something back).
'breaking' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'record' becomes 'annal' (I've seen this before).
'lewes' backwards is 'sewel'.
'sewel' inserted within 'annal' is 'ANNA SEWELL'.
