Writer needing copy in more ways than one (6)
I believe the answer is:
scribe
'writer' is the definition.
(I know that scribe is a type of journalist)
'copy in more ways than one' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'copy' could be 'crib' (crib can mean to copy from another source) and 'crib' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'se' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'needing' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scribe that I've seen before include "One writing documents" , "Copier of (handwritten) documents" , "Mark with a sharp point" , "Scholar of Jewish law" , "Clerk, a public copyist" .)
