Crossword Genius

Apparently I want a lot in the same place (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ibid

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'in the same place' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'apparently i want a lot' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'i' is found in the answer.
'lot' could be 'd' and 'd' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'bi' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ibid that I've seen before include "In the same place (Latin abbr)" , "In brief, notation meaning in came book or passage" , "'In the same place as previously mentioned, in short (4)'" , "In the same place (L)" , "(When citing a reference) in the same place (Latin)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish News.
