Bird sank its teeth into a tasty morsel (6)

I believe the answer is:

titbit

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a tasty morsel' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'bird sank its teeth' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'bird' could be 'tit' (tit is a kind of bird) and 'tit' is located in the answer.
'its' could be 'it' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'it' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'b' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'into' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for titbit that I've seen before include "Pleasing scrap of gossip" , "Choice bit of something, food or gossip" , "Small item of tasty food" , "Small piece of tasty food" , "Choice item" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
