Crossword Genius

Butterfly in part of Barnet (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ringlet

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'butterfly' is the definition.
(I know that ringlet is a type of butterfly)

'part of barnet' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'part' could be 'in' (synonyms) and 'in' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'in' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ringlet that I've seen before include "Curled lock of hair" , "Cluster of hair" , "A curl - kind of tingler" , "Curl or tendril" , "hair styling" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
