Crossword Genius

European transported over dress (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

enrobe

'dress' is the definition.
(I know that enrobe is a kind of attire)

'european transported over' is the wordplay.
'european' becomes 'e' (abbreviation e.g. EU).
'transported' becomes 'borne' (I've seen this in another clue).
'over' says the letters should be written backwards.
'e'+'borne'='eborne'
'eborne' reversed gives 'ENROBE'.

(Other definitions for enrobe that I've seen before include "Don a vestment" , "Dress, put on vestments" , "put on gown" , "make investment?" , "Fancy" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
